Great post! The US is still very reliant on imports of petroleum products not to mention the massive amount of imported necessities, components, and goods no longer mfg there while at the same time they are losing their ... sway in the world. I believe that peak energy can happen even sooner that expected and the US will be greatly encouraged to go nuclear and not the "good" kind.
It is a mistake to look at reserves and then divide by consumption. The economy is not static. If you look at the reserves 20 or 30 years ago, you will find that they were either smaller or about the same. The quantity of reserves available depends on prices and the level of technology. And the higher the price, the more incentive to invest in better technologies and methods.
Great post. I have read The Dawn of Everythng and passed it along to a few my friends who get it's message as well.
On another note, here are a few typos and suggested corrections:
"None if this were possible should the survival of the community depended on agricultural work, a military, or more recently, production output of a factory."

"Should colonization resulted in no such material abundance, the usual grind would have continued for centuries to follow."

"Don’t expect this to happen overnight: just as resources tend to decline over time the de-complexification of societies and the re-emergence of old belief systems will take an awful long to unfold."

Thank you B🙏
Honest assessment B. I agree that the early 2040s are going to get, ... well, historic.
Thank you for speaking truth.

Well written. I concur. The next 2 to 5 years will be oil’s reckoning
That effects pedal looks wicked! What does it sound like?
